Hi everyone,
Currently, I’m binging Netflix’s “Umbrella Academy.” I just finished season 2 and am already on episode 3.3. I’m loving every bit of it so far!
As for books, currently I’m reading Avatar – The Last Air Bender book series, which includes 2 previous women-Avatars. It’s so good reading more about the avatars, and I hope they keep it up!

Introducing Sara… Hello All, My name is Sara. I live in Eastern Washington and work for our local library district here as the Associate Director of Advocacy & […]
-
Hi Sara! You seem to be a busy human accomplishing a lot of great things! Also, you have two beautiful children and I wish them the best with school, as it can be hard starting high school or middle school.
I see that you like romance novels, which I usually don’t gravitate towards, but there have been some that I love. One of my favorites was probably Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. One of my least favorites (which may be controversial…) is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. But if you have any recommendations, please let me know! I look forward to getting to know you more.
-
@saraschwan Your position sounds super cool and very connected to your community. Washington State is one of my favorite places. Thanks for sharing the photo – stay for having a high schooler in the house!
Welcome to #hyperlib
Also – No Times Roman required in this class!
-
Yea to no Times New Roman! 🙂 And yes, Washington is a beautiful state – I love living on the dry, arid side of the state with all the agriculture and sunshine. I also love the west side with the trees, rain and ocean!
And I do love my role. 🙂

Anyone else keep a journal? I keep one in a couple of Hobonichi planners. Setting up spreads can be just as comforting as writing down my thoughts.
-
Hi @terribeth! I have always kept a journal of one kind of another. I attempted bullet journaling once years ago, but setting up pages stressed me to my perfectionist core! These days I mostly use Google Docs, as it is always available and requires no artistic talent! lol
-
Hi @catherine! I had a bullet journaling dalliance, too!! It lasted about a month – you’re right about the page perfectionism. ;-D
-
-
@inabookbind! Hi, Millicent! A YouTuber I like used Lavendaire’s planner a couple years ago – it looked really good! That is so great, that it helped you on such a deep level. I honestly would feel lost without mine. Thanks for the link. : )

Hi, Adri! I started in the spring of ’22, and I’m graduating next fall too! *high fives* I hope you have an awesome semester, and please give Darcy a pat for me. : )
-
Awww! Thanks, Terri. She can be very headstrong! I feel like we are at the stage, in the program, where one can see the “light at the end of the tunnel”, yet so far away. Hang in there! I keep telling myself that it will be over before I know it.
-
@acorey Oh! Darcy is so sweet! Thanks for this glimpse into your professional and personal life. Welcome to #hyperlib!
-
Thank you! I love seeing pics of your boys. Labs are an awesome, classic dog breed!
-
-
Adri,
I too can appreciate the varied days of working in a library. I also like that libraries are pretty cyclical…we know what to expect month to month as our plans don’t change so much year to year. I also like that we can take ideas from other libraries and use them in our library system, since we don’t really “compete” with one another. Congrats on taking the slow and steady route… Me too! I hope to be finished at the end of this spring. Sara-
Sara, congrats on finishing in the spring! You must be so antsy to be done, finish the degree, and go down your professional path!

@aliceknin I am right there with you regarding public service and community! Foundations of our course for sure. Welcome to #hyperlib!

Hi Alice-
I grew up in Boston and live on the North Shore now. I miss the city but get to spend time visiting friends who still live there though.I’m a bit jealous that you work for the BPL. I always imagined I would work in one of the branches…but that is most likely not my path.
