Hi Christy–I too had a bit of difficulty adding pics/YouTube video earlier today. I had to refresh my browser a couple times, which did the trick for me, and then all showed up on the blog and worked as usual.

@cbrightwell @dw082 Were you pasting in the YT URLs directly into the WYSIWYG post editor? (https://287.hyperlib.sjsu.edu/how-to/adding-video-more-to-your-blog/) It might have been a server thing too. The Community Site for student blogging we use in INFO 200 went down a few hours this weekend due to some issue. Let me know – glad to troubleshoot.

@michael @dw082 I did paste the URL into the WYSIWYG. It was a music video, are they not allowed? I think I remember reading or hearing they were not allowed due to size. I just went a different direction though so no need to troubleshoot. Flexibility and plan b. 🙂

Well that worked. I also took a look at your most recent post in the editor and you did everything right. Was it a YT music video?

@michael It was. YT music video, I even tried 2 different ones. I did notice that when I pasted the url, a period appeared in the middle of it like this, yo.utube. Very strange.

Course Site Help 1 month, 2 weeks agoI just noticed that when I look at the Feedly feed for my blog, it only shows me one post, instead of the three I’ve made so far. What am I doing wrong? I only noticed when trying to figure out why the most recent post hadn’t gotten comments.

@kcole Hello! I have one post for you because I have seen the others. Feedly rolls off posts you have clicked on or read. Do you think that is what you are observing? In Feedly, there is also an option to “Keep Unread” in the post view for a feed. I do that sometimes so I do not lose track of student work. let me know. We can troubleshoot is…[Read more]

Course Site Help 1 month, 4 weeks agoBecause this is a school site, are there restrictions on embedding linked media? I was trying to avoid screenshots when there are provided embed codes but they do not seem to be working as expected.

Ho @barbarab There are some embeds that are not avaiable because of security on the server. Apologies for that. Screen shots are just fine if an embed does not work.

@kcole We are on university servers and the security measures are in line with their protocols. Adding a plug in would involve testing, trials and a review process. What are you interested in doing? I can investigate but it might take a bit of time.

Don’t worry about it. There are plenty of other options, so I can just go a different route. I just thought if that was an easy option, it would be a new strategy for me. But it’s no problem taking a different approach.

Changing browsers helped. Using Firefox now and it seems to be working ok.

Great. Let me know off things continue. I have heard our IT support suggest clearing browser cache etc as a solution to WP database quirks.
I am still having issues in chrome. I noticed that I have an expired SSL certificate, I am not sure if that could be causing the issue or how to fix it. I found this part of Drupal class a little confusing. Do I need to get a new certificate? I don’t think we had to purchase one for the class and the instructions described using a private key…[Read more]
