Hi Alice – This is a great post. I have been really interested in AI throughout my MLIS journey and agree there are opportunities and risks. I will carry your description of “an extremely treacherous information landscape” past this class – it’s a great description. It’s not bad, it’s not good – it is something to be navigated with care,…[Read more]

@michael Thank you for sharing this – what a gorgeous, engaging space! My parents recently moved to an Austin suburb and are still trying to settle in to feel at home. I’m going to Austin in December and will definitely check this place out. I think my parents (and my kids) will love it.

Hi Terri – I also really like the practice of audience-led programming. I work with State grant programs and think of what I’m doing as getting the people’s money to the people. I think it’s same with public libraries – audience-led programming gives folks ownership of public places (getting the people into the people’s spaces) and can be a great…[Read more]

There was a recent Reddit thread in my community about how unfortunate it is that many open-air seating and meeting options created during the pandemic went away. People liked having streets closed down and spaces made for connection. It’s great to see libraries innovating to create outdoor community areas.

Hi @catladylilia – I, too, have been feeling very nostalgic and grateful for the library I grew up with in my hometown. I love that you are moving into a more public-facing and engaging space with your advocacy work – you seem very grounded in your purpose from your personal experience. Central Valley communities like Hanford often get left out of…[Read more]

Hi all, I purposely avoid listening to new episodes of the podcast “Add to Playlist” so that I can listen to them back-to-back. I don’t watch much TV unless I’m watching it with my kids. My 9-year-old daughter loves sitcoms—we just went through Brooklyn 99 and Young Sheldon together.
Also – does watching the C-SPAN & AP livestreams of the DNC c…[Read more] -

Hi all, the podcast I most look forward to is Add To Playlist from the BBC. I don’t listen to it for weeks at a time, so I can listen to the episodes back to back with headphones while walking in my neighborhood. It’s hosted by musicians (and rotating guests) who build a genre-defying playlist together based on specific elements from subsequent…[Read more]
