@michael Oh gosh, just went I got over being overwhelmed with COYA! Fluidity is not my strong suit, so I will probably stick with the OG due dates. But I appreciate this in case I need it!
Sincerely,
Someone who needs guidelines to stay on track 😉 -

@michael. I was wondering if there is a video that goes along with the slides for the CLA presentation on the Hive in Spokane? I searched for it on the web, but wasn’t able to locate it.

@Michael Yes, I love that! Put the ball in the other person’s court with all due respect.

@Michael Also, is it mostly children’s books which are questioned/challenged, I wonder? It seems in M. Casey’s responses about the process, that he makes sure the librarians who review the challenge must be parents who’ve raised children. Are there many cases where there are adult books that are challenged?

@Michael Works for me! Wow, 9 challenges in the last 3 months of the year–8 by one person! Interesting. I’d love to know which books were challenged. One aspect that I thought was important to remember/learn from the Int. Freedom class (sorry I keep bringing that up!) is that when a customer asks to challenge an artifact in the collection, it’s…[Read more]

@Michael I wasn’t able to see the rest of this X post because I’m not a member (wants me to create an account to see more), but I saw Art Spiegelman speak when I was at UC Santa Barbara in 2004, wrote a paper on, read both “Mauses” and “In the Shadow of No Towers” in my Atrocity in Lit. class. He was really fabulous. In fact, “Maus” was the cover…[Read more]

Great chat, thank you @michael for arranging it. I was able to attend but I think I just showed up as “iphone” on the screen. I need to figure that out! All my classmates had really good questions and I enjoyed sharing my lunch break with you all!

Thank you so much for sharing @michael! Sometimes life can be overwhelming and a simple gesture of kindness that may not appear to be much can mean the world to others. I feel that its something that we can forget at times, but seeing and being reminded of the impact of those who work at the library and wanting to continue that legacy is exactly…[Read more]

@michael thank you for sharing this post. I wasn’t aware of Mychal’s IG and am now following. The simple act of a hello or even a smile can make such an impact. Love it!

@michael This link doesn’t seem to be working Casden, J., Nutt, M., Lown, C., & Davidson, B. (2013). My #HuntLibrary: Using Instagram to crowdsource the story of a new library.

@emmizo I am sad. That was a good one. Looks like the ACRL site is having issues. I updated the resource to go to the library project page.

Hi, @michael, thank you for sharing this. I love the phrase “obnoxiously kind” — something we should all strive to be, I think! I’ve had students tell me that they feel safe around me when they’re in my library, and each time I’ve heard feedback like that my heart swells and breaks at the same time; swells because it’s so affirming to feel…[Read more]

@Michael Thank you so much for the help with this–I tried to add the plugin, but looks like WP has it blocked to do that, so I bookmarked the HTML reference site. Good to practice/learn too!

@michael Thank you so much for posting this. It is so inspiring to see how kindness and compassion can make a huge difference in somebody’s life. Often we are so overwhelmed by the enormity of challenges that we face in our society that we don’t even know where to begin. This is a great reminder that small acts of kindness can have a great impact.…[Read more]

@royaflin I corrected the link! https://www.dropbox.com/s/ycbp2xnpbvkdwxb/CLA_Hive_Slides.pdf?dl=0
Thanks for catching that!
@michael. Thank you!
@michael I am not sure if the problem is on my end, but I am still not seeing the video. Sorry to bother you with this again.
@royaflin Where is exactly is the video supposed to be? I may be missing something!
@michael I think I assumed there would be a video or audio clip that went along with the slides. Maybe I misunderstood?
@royaflin No worries. It is just the slides but I thought they were rather informative for all the various zones in the library etc.
