A theatre and a cinema in one venue? Plus a restaurant and a library? Those are almost all my favorite things in one spot. Add a bookstore and some furry friends and I’d never leave.

Wow, they’re putting on a really broad range of material. This looks really fun too: https://www.storyhouse.com/whats-on/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-buffy-revamped/

Oh my goodness! Thank you for this link — it looks like such a blast!

This is really amazing. Seeing so many malls closing, spaces like those can be repurposed for community/arts centers like this one. I love it. I bet the later hours might be welcoming for people looking for a space to study, connect and relax before it’s time to head home and go to bed.

Class Social Chat Thoughts? Hello all – I want to schedule one more informal social time at the end of the semester. I have found offering two times seems to work. What works […]
-
Sorry I will have to miss this one. I work both days, my lunch break however is at noon (PT) both days!
-
I am very sorry, that I will miss the chat. I will be visiting my mom & aunt for Mother’s Day.
-
I also will not be able to join on these days. I work Saturdays and will be out with my mom on Sunday the 12th.
-
I will be able to attend either – but likely will attend on Saturday the 11th!
-
@Michael, I can make the 11th! (Taking my daughter to her first concert on Mother’s Day–can’t think of a better way to celebrate 😁😏).
-
May 11th sounds great! I’d really enjoy a class social.
-
Pretty sure I can do the 11th! It would be a nice way to wrap up the semester 🙂
-
The 11th works for me!

@michael. Thank you for sharing this! In my research for the inspiration report, I found this map of social work and library collaborations https://wholepersonlibrarianship.com/map/ and was pleasantly surprised to see a large number of libraries collaborating with social workers.
-
@royaflin That is so cool!

The library system I work for recently opened a new position and hired two Community Outreach Specialists, which is similar to a social worker. They help patrons in the library by connecting them to resources, as well as go out into the community and partner with other organizations. The COS at the library I work for is starting a partnership with second harvest to organize monthly food distribution to a local migrant center. She has been such an asset to our library and community!
-
@smartinez Apologies for the delayed reply! Thanks for sharing your experience with the COS!

@matilda This is perfect! There is wiggle room…write the report that includes what works best for your topic and framework. 😀

@christines This is interesting. Think about how a mobile learning vehicle might fall in line with the learning modules…perhaps even a bit of “Power of Stories.” Try some outside the box thinking too. 😀

I love this! This incorporates so many different resources the library can provide.
Also love that he’s teaching this “I emphasized heavily in my program that the artistic direction, other than that of knowing what your theme is, should be left for much later stages in the development progress.” Usability 101!
I love everything about this.
