@donna128 I heart this so much:
“In my mind, I associate the concept of the hyperlinked library with people coming together into a space where they are free to express themselves and learn, where constant exchanges of ideas and concepts take place either within a formal or informal conversation (some going beyond words).”
I love your example from Epcot. I need to look into this because it seems like such a good idea.

@lauraw I’ve been using the nifty “google login” through my SJSU email to access things that I don’t have accounts for (this can be used for X), so if you don’t want to open or use a personal email account but want to see the replies, this option may work for you 🙂

Hi @oliviaevans! Happy to hear that you enjoyed what I wrote 🙂 With the advances in tech, even reading programs can be signed up online now– I remember back in the days when I had to go in person to do so. Hi Donna!
I think you explained Hyperlinked libraries quick and really clearly here. I just wrote my own Reflection blog on the topic, but I feel I wasn’t as concise as you were, lol. I did enjoy your article though, it’s interesting libraries have developed. I remember when I was young there was a reading program and board games at my local library. I don’t know if they kept those, but they designed the whole building so now there are a bunch of computers at the front of the building. It’s good they are adapting to the changing needs of the community as they even included self-checkout kiosks. It’s so strange how quickly things can change without you noticing, isn’t it?-
Hi @oliviaevans! Happy to hear that you enjoyed what I wrote 🙂 With the advances in tech, even reading programs can be signed up online now– I remember back in the days when I had to go in person to do so. Libraries are always evolving, and with the effort in which they ease us into convenience (and accessibility) with the constant small improvement and changes, it’s no wonder we don’t really notice. (I would say it’s more like we see and accept the change as being the “norm”, which leads us to not questioning it.)
Honestly speaking, I do think there is always more that can be added to and improved upon for library spaces and libraries in general, and that’s fascinating 🙂-
You are right. It is certainly a good thing that libraries are evolving, because we don’t want them to become dusty, empty storage rooms. It makes me happy knowing as they modernize more people have been able to see it like a social place. 🙂

Thanks for sharing the article, @royaflin! Reading Davis’s experience and seeing how he communicated with klan members by finding common ground shows just how far being “armed with knowledge” can go and how important it can be to question idealogies and set beliefs as that can not only open up a brand new pespective, but the doors to a whole new world 🙂

Fantastic post @royaflin! I remember hearing about the human library in a previous class and was happy to hear more about in your post! I especially loved reading about your dream of the multicultural center and the cycling of different aspects of culture- the way you mentioned seeing it through “love” instead of hate reminds me of this quote- “we…[Read more]

This is great! Just clicked on the link and was amazed at the amount of different versions and languages that this is available in. Seeing all of it in its diversity across my screen really amplified the sense that libraries truly are for everyone! 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing @michael! Sometimes life can be overwhelming and a simple gesture of kindness that may not appear to be much can mean the world to others. I feel that its something that we can forget at times, but seeing and being reminded of the impact of those who work at the library and wanting to continue that legacy is exactly…[Read more]

Ah, Itto! He’s a fun guy, it’s always exciting when there are new events or stories that involve him 🙂
I love the stories, (especially the latest one with Furina) but have found that many of friends find it tedious to get through, so I never have anyone to talk to about it (sadly). Speaking of fan theories, I will always have my suspicions and…[Read more] -

Hi @michael! Thanks for the warm welcome 🙂 I do recall that fact now that you mentioned it- I found it to be very cool but couldn’t enjoy the album to it’s fullest extent as I was reading the book…

Hi Barry,
Thank you for the warm welcome 🙂 It’s always such a mind-blowing and exciting experience when class topics can connect to some extent, so I’m glad that was the case here. Truth be told, I actually struggled with figuring out where to place the warning, but then realize that putting it in bold would really be eye catching, so I’m glad…[Read more] -

Hi Olivia!
It appears that we have similar experiences… I also had to take hyper focused english classes for the most part, but jumped on the opportunity to take the Hypertext class when I saw it being offered… and I’m glad I did. For the most part, I did find the story to be rather interesting and complex and weird yet also made a lot of…[Read more] -

@donna128 This is great! I so appreciate your rumination on AI and chat GPT in particular. I have experimented a bit here and there and I agree with you about it very useful for brainstorming or getting ideas of what something might look like. Too often it sort of repeats itself. If you don’t ask correctly and I can tell the language is not human.
I’ve been mulling over how to incorporate AI into this class… Ideas welcome.
