Hey all,
Does anyone know if we need to do anything besides just publishing our blogs to get credit? I’m so used to submitting a link through Canvas for the professor, but we won’t really be using Canvas this semester other than to look at grades.
-
Looking under the assignments (https://287.hyperlib.sjsu.edu/assignments/blogging/), looks like that is it for individual blogs because of the feeds. I could be incorrect though!
-
Thank you, I feel a bit silly having missed that crucial bit at the end.
-
-
@jwtalamantes We will use a feed reader or the site activity feed to monitor all the blogging (and assignments). Everything is submitted to Canvas via a URL to your blog. Blogging is submitted after you finish all five posts. From the assignment page for blogging:
All postings will be published to your blog by the date specified above. Because we…[Read more]

Thank you for the clarification Professor. I appreciate you taking the time.
-
@jwtalamantes Of course! I am hoping to get the OPML file up in just a bit so everyone can try it. It really makes it so easy to monitor class blogging.

I’ve been binging several authors lately: Stephen Graham Jones (horror author), Mona Awad (horror/kinda fantasy author), and Bora Chung (horror/sci fi short stories author)
Also I love good & “bad” horror films from the streaming service, Shudder, and watched a lot of them on the break between spring/summer sessions.
-
I love horror too! What has been your favorite so far this year, if you have seen any new ones? I think mine is I Saw the TV Glow.
-
I love a good/bad horror movie too. Some of my first memories of going to the local public library were to secretly read horror/special effects magazines like Fangoria and Starlog. One of the “slow binges” I’m currently working through is the new Chuckie series which is sooo much better than it has any right to be! And, you know, Jennifer Tilly is…[Read more]

@frenchie123 @condandridge @jcwest Big horror fan here too. Currently watching The First Omen. I found it rather well done so far with a nice call back (call forward?) to the 70s film. Faves: Hereditary & Midsommer.

Currently binging: Hacks and various baking shows (Max)
Most recent completed binge: The 8 Show (Netflix)
I feel like I am running out of things to watch.-
@leslies I loved Hacks and was sad to see it end the season!
-
I love that you organized the works by streaming service. It both disambiguates works and points the sharee in the right direction for access.
Separately, do you have a favorite baking show?

For those who like a good emergency action show… I love 911, 911 Lone Sar, and The Rookie. Also, I’ve been watching The Tracker on Paramount Plus… the first season just ended but has been renewed for another season, yay! For the more nostalgic shows, I enjoy episodes of Gilmore Girls, Friends, and Young Sheldon.

Lately, I’ve really been enjoying different series on Dropout. My partner would often show me clips of shows like Breaking News, but I got into it on my own with the Dungeons and Drag Queens season of Dimension 20 as I’m also a Drag Race fan and played D&D for many years. I’m slower catching up with Dimension 20 series as the episodes are longer,…[Read more]

I love Dropout!! But I’ve completely fallen behind in all the series except for what they post on TikTok and Youtube 🙁
-
There’s a lot to catch up on but the highlights they share are always great. I love that the cast and creative team all seem to genuinely appreciate and support each other. I guess it’s that improv energy.

-
Big Drag Race fan here too, watched every main season when it first aired, ha! A coworker has decided to binge the entire run and we have been having a great time talking about it. A different coworker told me about Dungeons and Drag Queens which I need to get into for sure.
-
I only started watching with Season 8 as that was the first to come to Netflix Canada and a coworker recommended it. But then I immediately had to go back and watch the rest and have kept up, although I need to watch more international series. I also got my Mom into it, she watches it on cable and she loves it so much that she actually contacted…[Read more]

I am not really binging anything on television, but I have found myself listening to Crime Junkies podcast while shelving books at work for most of the last few months. I have to make sure I can quickly hit pause if a small kiddo comes into the library.
-
@carlys I listened to a ton of MFM a few years ago. Have dipped in CJ and some others.

I find it hard working full time and taking classes to deep dive into anything lately! Being at work for almost 10 hours each day, my my binge watches have to be quick and funny – like Bob’s Burgers (which honestly has some fantastic writing – like the episode where they visit Bob’s mother’s gravesite, amazing). I also enjoy anything with quick,…[Read more]

The episode in the graveyard never fails to make me misty eyed.
Also love any Agatha Christie shows! I used to hang out with my grandma to watch the old PBS mystery segment and we would hope it was either Sherlock or anything Agatha Christie. I still think about the intro to the mystery segment all the time…https://youtu.be/rAmGsM4Dids

I remember that Edward Gorey intro too! Wow, hadn’t thought about that in a long time

I took advantage of the break between Spring and Summer classes to catch up with some shows. I can understand about wanting short, funny shows when balancing school and work! Just finished the new season of Hacks which was great. I was a fan of Gilmore Girls and Mrs. Maisel, you definitely get your value in words per minute with Amy…[Read more]

I also love the way Mrs. Maisel has so many long “one-shots” where the camera is just moving around without a single cut and all of that dialog is just flying right and left – so much great production work to analyze.
-
The opening of perhaps season 2 of MMM had that LONG shot of the family moving into and unpacking in their house at the resort in upstate NY. It was brilliant.
