Innovation Strategy & Roadmap: Ride FoCo I live in Fort Collins, Colorado, and one of my very favorite things about living here is how bike-friendly the city is and just how easy it is to Continue reading

Catherine,
This is a really great idea! I’ve noticed several cities and universities implementing programs such as this. Around my own town we have bike services for the city and also the campus, but like you mentioned, there is an accessibility issue – because they charge $30 for a rental. It would be more beneficial if it were more accessible for all and citizens could just simply “check out” a bike and return it.

Hyperlinked Communities: Libraries as Mirrors, Windows, & Sliding Glass Doors As I have learned more about the concept of a “hyperlinked library,” I have realized that it is woven into every aspect of librarianship and is Continue reading

I love this so much! When my kids were little our public library used to host a sleepover for kids who pledged, and succeeded, to go screen-free for a week. We have such precious memories of making blanket forts in the stacks and reading late into the night surrounded by our neighbors and community!

Oh also, @Michael, I paused this week’s lecture video to comment this, because you mentioned Mishawaka, and I spent several years in Mishawaka/Osceola as a kid (and I am originally from Michigan – Troy/Clawson/Sterling Heights area)! I was in elementary school when we lived there, but my older sisters (and cousins) graduated from Penn High. 🙂

Thanks for visiting and for your comment, Millicent! It’s pretty cool that you have watched roller derby – most people don’t even know that it still exists! If it’s something you are actually interested in, you should totally give it a try! I almost talked myself out of it so many times before I actually started, because I also am pretty timid and…[Read more]

Hi Claire! Good to “see” you again! Thanks for visiting my blog. 🙂 I love the names Brunhilda, Blondie, and Chicken Little! I wanted to give my hens stupid pun names but my kids vetoed me, and instead our girls just organically came into their names (we do have a Stevie that I sometimes call Stevie Chicks, but in reality she is named after Stevie…[Read more]

The last few years I have been listening mostly to audiobooks on Libby, but I have a few podcasts I listen to as well. My oldest just started his senior year of high school and my 2nd is in 10th grade and in the throes of teenage angst, so lately I have been listening to whatever will help me get through (and hopefully better enjoy!) these years!…[Read more]

I used to listen to this podcast religiously, but fell behind during the shutdown (when I wasn’t commuting anymore) and haven’t listened in a few years. But the “murderino” groups on facebook are my favorite, and are almost the only thing I still use facebook for anymore!
-
One of my classmates completed an information community project on people who digitally help solve crimes. I don’t usually listen to podcasts that often, but that podcast is one I want to re-visit. I believe they are still podcasting. I quickly checked their site and it appears to be current. I know they probably have discussed how they came up…[Read more]

@acorey I was a long time MFM listener. I switched gears to more movie focused podcasts in the last couple of years. My memory is that one of the early listeners who is the Simpsons fan coin the term Murderino after Homer’s neighbor Ned Flanders’ way of speaking.
-
@michael Neat! The Ned Flanders/Simpson reference makes sense. It actually adds a bit more dark humor to the show
