Thanks so much @jeanna! How fun to have been at the opening of the park! I think it’s a hidden gem in the Bay Area. Great views too!

Hi, Kathleen! Colonial Williamsburg has been on my travel list for so long, and somehow I had never explored their virtual tours before! Thank you for drawing this to my attention and for the work you’ve done with your Inspiration Report. I would be so curious to hear more about how you would plan to market or advertise this to your students, b…[Read more]

Thanks @jeanna! I thought the prompts from Storyworth were really interesting and provided a useful framework for participants to use to gather their thoughts. What I didn’t put in my initial reflection is that we also purchased a subscription for my in-laws as the same time. Although they are both great storytellers who love to share family…[Read more]

@jeanna Agreed. I love this. Although perhaps more labor intensive than providing multiple packages to the post office for shipping, which is probably limited by staffing budgets.

@jeanna so much goodness here, but I’m gonna focus in on the last little bit about library services under one roof. My thought would be to expand the library into that storefront and anywhere else. The library might find some space such as the farmers market or the community center or anything in between. This is a good way to think about service…[Read more]

@jeanna Thank you! I’m glad you like the idea! I was also reminded of a sort of “speed dating” format that we’ve used with networking before in clubs that I advise. It’s such a help to the kids’ confidence to feel equal to those they are interacting with.

@jeanna So glad you covered this topic. And I really appreciate the stats you share in the last paragraph. It feels like that KY bookmobile service was really playing a vibrant role in the lives of the folks who used it.

@jeanna Oh my! I need to know more about the emoji language the 20 somethings have… I am way out of there loop as a late-50’s something!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the human library. I do believe there is some training involved in the formalized human library programs for the “library books” to be aware of how people might talk to them.

@jeanna I was super thrilled to learn about all the various permutations of the concept of the library bar. I am in for a nice glass of red anytime I happen upon one of these places. You share some very interesting ideas as well about what this means for libraries and welcoming people into our spaces. Cheers.

@jeanna Lol, I get the mindset, but if the kids are disobedient, they can easily find access to much more explicit and potentially harmful content on the internet and parents can’t monitor those 24/7.

@jeanna I heart your list of things you want to do at the library! Golden!
The type of programming you brainstorm is exactly what I think we should be aiming for in our evolving information spaces.

@jeanna I so appreciate this post regarding museums and interactivity and technology. I have really enjoyed some of the museums I’ve visited in the last couple of years, including those in Scotland, and in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Both utilize technology in interesting ways, and they also told stories via the exhibits, artifacts, etc. Innovation in…[Read more]

Hi @jeanna. Thank you so much for sharing the story about your father. It’s a beautiful story and I do agree that personal stories are powerful in opening up people’s minds. My love of literature and film (and stories) stems from the fact that you can know the whole “story” of a person, rather than just the politicial/ideological viewpoint which…[Read more]
