Can You Spot an AI-Generated Book?: An AI Literacy Workshop

In person at the AI Center for Civic and Social Good in King Library & Zoom
AI-generated content is increasingly showing up in physical books and e-books, raising questions about how we recognize it and evaluate what we’re reading. Jill Strykowski, SJSU Library’s Cataloging and Government Documents Lead and an MLIS PhD student whose research intersects libraries, metadata, and AI, will use real examples to explore some of the clues that can help identify and evaluate AI-generated books.
For anyone who can’t attend the full session live, the first 20 – 30 minutes will be recorded and shared afterward with registered participants. The interactive activity portion will not be recorded.

Thank you! Our library received a donated paperback copy of “Sense and Sensibility.” The printing dimensions were odd and not very reader-friendly. Took a look at the publication info and sure enough, it was an AI-generated copy.
