Hello all! It reminded me to give you all an extension on Assignment X. Please get it in by the 19th! I am thinking some of you may value the extra time.

Much appreciated!
@lisahach Glad to do this!
Thank you for the extra time— such a relief!
@kristaholmquist I would rather give everyone a bit more time and alleviate any stress so students can think and reflect on the course materials and their responses.
@michael thank you!
@krheid No worries!
Thank you so much!
@tylabrown Happy to do this!
Thank you, Michael. It has been a rough week. I am digging firmly into radical self-care, and I am so grateful for this class- I hope you all are too.
If anyone else is reeling, like me, you are not alone. If you need someone to speak with, there are advocates like me manning the text lines, ready to help anyone de-escalate with a kind, human conversation where empathy is at the heart of what we do, 24/7/365.
I am an SJSU-approved campus advocate, & a Crisis Text Line virtual Crisis Counselor when I have time. If anyone is looking for mental health resources at this time, I’d like to share that the Crisis Text Line has a blog with resources for YOU and/or people you care about (diverse audiences included). You can access the resources for free on the website: https://www.crisistextline.org/resources/ . Blog here: https://www.crisistextline.org/blog/ You can text us via WHATSAPP or Text: 74141. Take care Y’all <3
@gardenlib thank you for so much for sharing this information. I am thrilled that you are doing this type of work with the university. It is much needed right now. I am the core course coordinator for info 200. Would it be useful to share these resources with all the instructors for 200 for their students? I always worry about our new students just starting out anyway and now with the way of the world it’s even worse.
I’d be delighted if you could spread the word – I thought it was rough starting last year *SMH*.
From an MLIS student standpoint, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to volunteer in the mental health community (~4+ week minimum commitment) and get your feet wet with data mining our simple, but extensive resource database as a virtual counselor (no degree required, training is free, volunteer virtually 100%).

@gardenlib Thanks!
@michael
There are also opportunities to become campus advocates.

@gardenlib cool! Good to know.

I posted my Assignment X blog, but it isn’t showing up on Feedly. Does it just take time or might I be missing a step?
@aimes2025 good morning. I see it in my Feedly. It looks like it populated around three hours ago for me. Sometimes there is a lag. I don’t think you missed a step at all. Everything looks great.
