Hey all – I’ve heard from some of you that there’s just so much going on in personal life as well as in the world. (Same here!) To help ease the pressure, FLUID DUE DATES are in place for the rest of the term. This means you can work on assignments as you are able, without the stress of what’s due next. However, everything must be submitted by the last day of class.

I also encourage you to stay close to the reflection blogging dates, as this allows your classmates to read and respond to your work in a timely manner, fostering a richer discussion. Keeping up with those will help create a better exchange of ideas.

This approach aligns perfectly with what the Hyperlinked Library is all about—taking care of ourselves and each other. It’s important that you have time to explore class resources, enjoy the process, and be creative with your assignments.

Think of it as an extension on everything! Nothing will be counted late as long as it’s in by the final deadline.

Watch for this on our weekly posts:

➡️➡️➡️ FLUID DUE DATES are in effect. Use the original due dates as a guideline, but take the time you need to create meaningful and enjoyable work. Everything just needs to be completed by the last day of class. Please stay close to the reflection blogging dates, as this allows your classmates to read and respond to your work in a timely manner, fostering a richer discussion. Keeping up with those will help create a better exchange of ideas.

If you’d prefer to stick to the scheduled dates, that’s absolutely fine too.

  1. This is extremely helpful! I’d love to take some more time to really delve into the assignments, and this feels like the perfect opportunity. Thank you for being flexible and for making this class more than just credits on a transcript, but a learning experience!

  2. Thank you so much for this flexibility. I think this also closely reflects what it’s like out there in the “real world” of working in libraries. Things happen, and deadlines need to be adjusted! I’m quite literally experiencing this now as our library attempts to do a massive evaluation, weeding, and inventory of the entire collection (this has not been done in years). The target was to finish by the end of summer. After getting going… the team has realized this may bit harder to accomplish than originally planned. But we talk about the project together, and make plans to keep going!

  3. Thank you very much for the flexibility Professor- this will be very helpful as some of our arts education programs are beginning at my workplace and I’ll be helping out with the program on top of my other projects.
Do you happen to remember the name of this store? I’m going to Edinburgh on the second week of July and their things seem right up my alley.

    1. @jmevange the name of the shop is Pie in the Sky. I made a little mistake up above. The store window photo was two years ago. This past year when we were there, the windows were Taylor Swift themed because she had been to Edinburgh for a huge concert. The shop is located on Cockburn Street (pronounced Co-Burn). It is this neat curve Street that leads down from the Royal Mile to Waverly Station. Also on that street is an amazing Nepalese restaurant called the Ghurka Café. I have many other recommendations. If you are interested. Edinburgh for me is one of those places that when you visited for the first time you feel, you’ve always belonged to there.
