Here is a job description from CityLibraries Townsville in Queensland, Australia from 2019. My colleague Warren Cheetham is Coordinator, Planning and Business Development there. I visited Warren while in Australia in 2018. Take look at this bit and then grab the PDF to see the full job. Note the nuances of Australian library work. Townsville.Position Information_Digital Life Librarian
The Digital Life Librarian will contribute to implementing a holistic program of change across the Planning, Environmental and Cultural Services Division in collaboration with the section leadership team and in consultation with the Townsville community. This will involve leading the Cultural Services Section on a transformative journey focusing on the needs and aspirations of the Townsville community developing a culture of customer-centricity and personal accountability; and reshaping how we deliver services to maximise value.

Very cool that the whole town is changing its ethos to be more customer-centric and thinking more about service delivery!
@tylabrown Agree! I spent a week in Townsville doing research and the library and townspeople were very forward thinking.
This is an exciting conceptual match that demonstrates there are forward-thinking, holistic, AND digital librarary positions out there.
” Our Council is undergoing a whole-of-organisation transformational change which will place our
customers at the heart of everything we do and allow us to take advantage of exciting opportunities to
revolutionise the delivery of services to a community of more than 190,000 residents.”
I find it inspiring that the city of Townsville (funny name), in Queensland is courageous and willing to undergo this transformational change. I have to wonder from a cultural standpoint if they faced much resistance, and what the catalyst was for this customer-centered change. Is there a lesson to be learned? Curious.
I am in touch often with Warren at Townsville City Libraries. They are really doing good things in the system and in Queensland in general. Australian libraries have really impressed me over the last couple of decades with their forward thinking.
Oh – I recall that the place was founded by Robert Towns (!) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Towns
