Library 2.0 Conference: AI & Libraries

Greetings everyone. This might be a very useful thing to register for because you will get access to the recordings if you cannot attend on the day.

Here’s a message I shared with my INFO 200 class:

I want to bring your attention to an exciting and timely opportunity to deepen your understanding of AI’s role in libraries. The Library 2.025 Mini-Conference: “AI and Libraries: Literacy, Ethics, and Responsible Use” will be held online (and for free!) on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm PT.

This conference is a must-attend event for anyone interested in how AI is shaping the future of libraries, literacy, and ethical information use. With over 6,600 participants already registered, this is a fantastic opportunity to engage with librarians, educators, and technologists exploring the responsible use of AI and how libraries can lead the way in digital literacy.

Our special conference chair is Chad Mairn, a Professor, Librarian, founder of the Innovation Lab at St. Petersburg College, and adjunct professor at SJSU’s iSchool. Chad is also an instructor for INFO 200, making his leadership in this event especially relevant.

Why Attend?

Gain actionable insights on ethical AI use in libraries.

Learn practical strategies for integrating AI tools in library and educational settings.

Discover how libraries can lead efforts in digital literacy and ethical AI adoption.

Connect with a community of professionals shaping the future of libraries and AI.

📌 Register Here to attend live or receive the recordings afterward: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/library-2025-ai-and-libraries-literacy-ethics-and-responsible-use-registration-1111810197229?aff=oddtdtcreator

This event is free and will be recorded, so even if you can’t attend live, registering ensures you’ll have access to the sessions later.

  1. I just recommended this on another blog but “More than a Glitch: Confronting Race, Gender, and Ability Bias in Tech” might also be a good read to go along with this conference.
Meredith Broussard researches AI and tech. I found it very useful to read about what AI can and can’t realistically do, and how we need to be careful when we use it.
