@lauraw Lovely and effective takeaways for both this course, and for life in general! As an aside, I didn’t know it was possible to create something like this in google slides.. I will have to go explore that more! I also had a lot of trouble figuring out how to edit videos to add audio at the right places, but I figured hey, it’s time to put my…[Read more]

Hi @lauraw, I know a lot of people were inspired by the AL Magazine article, I’m so happy to hear that it helped you choose a topic for your Inspiration Report! I just hopped over to your blog and read your Inspiration Report, and I just wanted to say– WOW! You did an absolutely amazing job on your report. I can see your passion for the subject…[Read more]

@lauraw I love this and I didn’t realize that the lending of alternative items was called a “Library of Things.” I actually needed this term for my final research paper for another class! 🙂 It was very helpful!
I like the idea of these robotic animals. I definitely can see the benefit of them for elders who have memory issues. I have heard of…[Read more]

@lauraw That’s too bad. I can imagine it is hard to get people involved, unless they are really interested/have a passion for learning the language and being involved in preservation.

@lauraw Thank you so much! This was a labor of love for me. My husband and I worked as weekend parents for a group home in our college years, and the experience stuck with me. We ended up fostering and adopting three children, later in life. I learned so much doing the research for this project and much of it resonated with my personal experience.

@lauraw I really enjoyed your thoughts on storytelling. I especially like the quote you shared — “The most important part of a story is the piece of it you don’t know.” I always feel like I want to know the weird side stories of a story or person’s experience more so than the actual story. Like with history, I don’t want to know about the big w…[Read more]

Thank you for the thoughtful comments @lauraw. This project ended up being very special to me. I am happy to hear of Mukurtu being used — and locally! 🙂 Do you know how successful the software has been for your tribe?

@lauraw Also makes my local library seem very sad. They haven’t been updated since the 1970s and 1980’s (if not earlier for some). 😬 This is a very nice and peaceful environment!

Hi @lauraw,
Life long learning is so important! When my sole focus was that of being a stay-at-home mom and the care/livelihood of my children, in so many ways I felt dried up and missing something. Coming back to school and learning a subject so different than my past studies has opened a new part of me. Learning something new has brought so…[Read more] - Load More
