Greetings everyone. I had a really enjoyable full day with the staff of Wilmette public library in Illinois on Friday. I did their morning presentation and then stayed around to interact with the staff and do a debrief of the morning presentation as a breakout in the afternoon. I want to share some photos and the slides. Oh, and the theme of the day was “Serving with Heart.”
The poster sheet is from an exercise I lead them through to build a library staff member from the “formula for success.”
Hello @Michael,
Thanks for sharing! I enjoy going to my county’s staff day. Seeing the other side of the event is interesting as you are the presenter. Do you have any tips on doing presentations for library staff days? It would be good to challenge myself to present my experiences about librarianship one day.
@kazuko I would suggest finding a topic you are very excited about and looking for opportunities to present about that. In the afternoon breakout sessions at Wilma, I met one of the staff members who is going to do a breakout on artificial intelligence, and he was very excited. It turns out his was probably the most attended breakout for that timeslot. Because people are very interested. So finding something that might be new and interesting and maybe a little bit unknown that you could learn about gain some expertise, etc. would work well.
