This is the sort of thing I would love to work on. My only note is the window AC units in recording spaces. This is going to be loud in the summer! Also, the cinderblock walls will make for echoes, so I was glad to see they’re using acoustic treatments and hopefully some soft furniture to help balance the sound. The lighting design is really fun.
@robw those are good observations. I was glad to see the wall treatments go into to dampen sound. As an overview, this video was very effective for informing folks what it might take to do this. It’s also interesting to think how the space could scale. It could be a very small space and what would you need to do or would it need to be portable?
My limited understanding is that spaces should not be too small or too big. For instance, podcasters are sometimes advised to use a closet, but the small space and lots of clothes can be suboptimal.
I wrote about this if folks are curious to learn more: https://ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu/info/rwolff/info-250-instructional-material-example/
Of course, design is all about constraints. If a small space is all you have, then you just make the most of it!
@robw that is a neat post you did about recording Studios in libraries and I really appreciate that. Nice list of links at the bottom. Thank you for sharing that.
