We have this guide set up as a poster. Our next task is adjusting the Dewey numbers to fix problems inherent in the Dewey system. One example, in traditional Dewey women’s history is included with “social movements” and we are melding it into the overall history section.
@hharrisbrady i’m really happy to hear that you’re going to be looking at Dewey closely at TADL. I spent a good part of my few years in the reference department selecting and de-selecting in the 200s (religion). Putting other religions beyond Christianity into 290 to 299 seems very odd through the lens of the 21st-century.
I love this! My daughter was extremely shy talking to adults and would not ask questions. I know children can be shy about talking to adults. Especially a subject about which they may have apprehensions, this provides a way to look up the categories and avoid having to ask anyone. I know many people benefit from not having to ask for the section and being able to find areas on their own.
