Inspiration: Collection as Waterfall – National Museum of Scotland

Hello all – I took a video for our class last fall at the National Museum of Scotland.

In one of the large galleries, the museum has an installation of monitors and surface table type screens. The collection – in the form of digital entries – cascades down the “waterfall” and into the surface screens. You can select one by touch to learn more. The featured image is of the musuems’s iPhone 3G from 2011!

  1. Inspiring- I love the invitation to touch and interact, all while representing these little morsels of information in an innovative way that plays off of our innate curiosity. I spent a day this summer chasing waterfalls in Baden Baden, Germany. Bringing the sense of grounding and wonder of a natural waterfall, and echoing that in a library with information, is truly inspiring. Brilliant design.
