Inspiration: Austin Central Library

John Szabo, City Librarian at Los Angeles Public Library, posted this to Facebook. I asked if I could share with you all. He said yes!

During a brief trip to Austin, I had to see the gorgeous new Austin Central Library. It’s a stunner. Beyond the beauty of the space, the best part was seeing hundreds of people using the library in every imaginable way. Cheers to Roosevelt Weeks and his Austin Public Library team.

  1. I love what I see. I notice natural light, organic shapes (like the rounded seating, and bookcase), and green space blurring the lines between outside and in. While to some people, plants may seem to be an afterthought when considering the design of a library space, I believe green space should actually be front and center. I look forward to exploring this further in my posts. Thank you for sharing.
