My most recent favorite binges have been Reservation Dogs and The Bear. But I also rewatched all of Schitt’s Creek and The Last of Us again and both are still so good. I recommend all of these.
Has anyone watched Julia on HBO, the dramatization about Julia Child? First season was good but I finally watched all of second season in December and…[Read more]

@matilda I am all about The bear. Probably one of the best in recent memory. I need to try Julia. May I suggest a similar one: Lessons in Chemistry. Took my breath away a few times.
-
I love The Bear so much and especially Ayo Edebiri. I watched all of Lessons in Chemistry in two days! That was what inspired me to go back to second season of Julia. The first season was good but I was in no hurry to watch the second season but I’m so glad I did. They really kicked it up a notch in the second season. Especially the latter half.
-
@matilda I think I need to try Julia. There is something very soothing about cooking type shows to me right now. I thin k it’s the times!

Since @savannahpolizzi has already mentioned the Fourth Wing series, I will mention something else for this exercise 🙂 Me and my friend recently binge-watched season 1 of Ted Lasso (TV show), which was actually very enjoyable! (We initially thought we’d watch one episode to test the waters, but then we ended up finishing the entirety of season 1…[Read more]

Hi Donna! I’m delighted to see some love for Ted Lasso. I’ve been rewatching it again with some friends and it is just as fantastic as my first watch through. The character development is top notch throughout all three seasons and I find more details to chew on each time I watch. I read recently that the show/characters are loosely inspired by the…[Read more]

Hi Sabrina 🙂 I didn’t know that tidbit! I will keep it in mind as I go into season 2. The character development, like you said, is definitely top notch. They’re well written 🙂 I find myself changing my opinions and coming to different understanding for the characters with each new episode, can’t wait to see where I’ll stand come end of season 3!

just finished Season 2 of Julia on HBO, it’s a good winding down at night show. Side note, my wife had a work study job in college shelving Julia Child books and archive materials at the Schlesinger Library in Cambridge (https://www.radcliffe.harvard.edu/schlesinger-library). We actually went to a movie theater in Berkeley last weekend (I think…[Read more]

Hi @quarrypak, I completely missed that you had watched Julia too. I really loved season 2 a lot. That is cool as heck that your wife got to work so closely with Child’s archival materials. I have read some of Child’s writing about her time in Europe and it was so compelling.

Over the winter break I binge read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame (worth the hype, in my opinion) and my husband and I are currently on our semi-annual Hobbit and Lord of the Rings re-watch (extended versions, of course!).
-
I saw the key words “Fourth Wing” and “Iron Flame” and knew I had to comment! I second the binge reading of the series, having done the same thing for Iron Flame just recently! 🙂
-
They were both SO good! And that cliffhanger at the end!?!?!? It’s going to be painstaking waiting on the next book in the series.
-
They were! Rumors have it that book 3 has not yet been written so we may have to wait awhile, and now I’m simply running speculations as to what will happen following said cliffhanger. I wonder if it will be a ongoing trend for the future books, seeing as book one ended in a similar manner…

I just finished binging Bad Sisters on Apple TV+. My 20 year old daughter recommended it and I couldn’t stop watching once it hooked me. Super suspenseful (for me at least!). As for binge-reading, I read a lot of YA and middle grade books for my job so I spent the summer binging the Armand Gamache mystery series by Louise Penny. I just wrapped up…[Read more]

I’ve been reading and getting into Mitch Albom’s books. And over the break, I rewatched some episodes of The Chosen.

My husband and I recently started the show “Silo” on Apple TV+ and it has been interesting so far. The premise is that this society lives in a silo bunker and haven’t been outside for 140 years. It is a punishment to be sent outside to “clean” because you end up dying. The silo is made up of this staircase that they have to use to travel 100 and…[Read more]

I’ve been steadily working my way through pretty much all of Neil Gaiman’s books in the last few months. The Graveyard Book has been my favorite novel since I first read it in the third grade, but because he’s such a prolific author, I still haven’t tackled them all. “American Gods” is fantastic; also, I’m also reading “Coraline” to my fifth…[Read more]

I currently have two obsessions:
1) The Chronicles of St. Mary’s — time traveling historians!
2) “The Diplomat” on Netflix was much better than I had anticipated. Finished season 1 last night with my mouth hanging open.@michael — I’m liking “Slow Horses” more and more as the seasons progress, and I like them better than the books. (I know…[Read more]
