If you like dark humor, I recommend “The Wedding People” by Alison Espach. If you have ever doubted your existence, confidence in friendships/relationships, this was a great read. I binge read it in 1 sitting yesterday.

Back to say I am binging Criminal Minds as background television while I complete my assignments. In college this is what I did too. It is the only show that can be on in the background that isn’t distracting.

The last few years I have been listening mostly to audiobooks on Libby, but I have a few podcasts I listen to as well. My oldest just started his senior year of high school and my 2nd is in 10th grade and in the throes of teenage angst, so lately I have been listening to whatever will help me get through (and hopefully better enjoy!) these years!…[Read more]

Hi y’all! I am currently binging a few things. My 17-year-old introduced me to Dropout TV (with cast of what was formerly College Humor) so he and I have been watching several of those shows together (Game Changer & Breaking News are the ones we tend to watch most frequently). I am also watching season 2 of Disney’s Behind the Attraction, and…[Read more]

I prefer listening to podcasts on Youtube since I enjoy the visual imagery matching the show’s story-telling. Do Apple podcasts have any visuals or are they exclusively auditory? That’s kind of a dealbreaker for me since I’m a strong visual learner.

My mom introduced be a couple years back to a true crime podcast called “My Favorite Murder”. If you find true crime facscinating, Karen and Georgia respectfully cover cases that have happened. They do intersperse some humor thoughout their podcast, but it is usually their dynamic and, as stated, doesn’t direct it towards the victims, This also…[Read more]

I used to listen to this podcast religiously, but fell behind during the shutdown (when I wasn’t commuting anymore) and haven’t listened in a few years. But the “murderino” groups on facebook are my favorite, and are almost the only thing I still use facebook for anymore!
-
One of my classmates completed an information community project on people who digitally help solve crimes. I don’t usually listen to podcasts that often, but that podcast is one I want to re-visit. I believe they are still podcasting. I quickly checked their site and it appears to be current. I know they probably have discussed how they came up…[Read more]

@acorey I was a long time MFM listener. I switched gears to more movie focused podcasts in the last couple of years. My memory is that one of the early listeners who is the Simpsons fan coin the term Murderino after Homer’s neighbor Ned Flanders’ way of speaking.
-
@michael Neat! The Ned Flanders/Simpson reference makes sense. It actually adds a bit more dark humor to the show

@inabookbind I don’t listen like I used to but in 2017 to 2021 I listened to every episode. You are right…it was like listening to friends. Karen said something I still repeat to myself and share whenever I can: “Anxiety is liar.”
-
@inabookbind @michael, I too feel like I’m sitting on a couch, chatting with them, and a bowl of popcorn! They definitely have the feel of being a friend. This makes me want to sneak of of their newer podcasts in, between work and school life!

Hi everyone! I’m currently home with a sleepy newborn and on leave from work, so I’ve had plenty of binging time! I just finished watching all of the Alien movies I had not seen or had not seen in a very long time, in preparation for when I can watch Alien Romulus at home. I also, to keep the sci-fi franchise theme going, binged a few of the…[Read more]

@louis Congratulations on your new baby, that is so awesome! I also just binged the Alien movies and went to see Romulus in theaters – and it was SO GOOD and did not disappoint. Also, that’s so exciting that you just started GoT. GoT is my favorite show and is so epic. I hope you have fun watching it!
-
@Louis Congrats on the new little one! I have been a longtime fan of the Alien franchise although later films were not as finely presented as the first two. I am eager to stream Romulus as well.

Hi all, I purposely avoid listening to new episodes of the podcast “Add to Playlist” so that I can listen to them back-to-back. I don’t watch much TV unless I’m watching it with my kids. My 9-year-old daughter loves sitcoms—we just went through Brooklyn 99 and Young Sheldon together.
Also – does watching the C-SPAN & AP livestreams of the DNC c…[Read more] -

Hi all, the podcast I most look forward to is Add To Playlist from the BBC. I don’t listen to it for weeks at a time, so I can listen to the episodes back to back with headphones while walking in my neighborhood. It’s hosted by musicians (and rotating guests) who build a genre-defying playlist together based on specific elements from subsequent…[Read more]

This sounds great! Added it to my own playlist. :p Thanks, @emtaggart

Hello everyone!
I am currently watching The Americans, which originally aired on FX and is now available to stream on Hulu. I am on season 5 (out of 6 seasons) and have enjoyed every episode!

I do not watch a lot of TV but my son and I have enjoyed watching together The Great British Baking Show: Juniors. My kids and I love to cook and my son gets inspiration from this show.

I’ve been wanting to read this book! My friend was telling me about it and how she was having trouble driving around town while listening to it, as she was so into the book she forgot to take the necessary turns to get where she was going. 😛
It was so good! I also just read “The Spellshop” by Sarah Beth Durst. It was a great cozy fantasy. I got my copy of The Wedding People off of Pangobooks for a pretty great price. It is one that I will keep since I enjoyed it so much.
I’ll have to check this one out also. Thank you! <3
