Break the Ice: Binge-Worthy 2 months agoIf you like dark humor, I recommend “The Wedding People” by Alison Espach. If you have ever doubted your existence, confidence in friendships/relationships, this was a great read. I binge read it in 1 sitting yesterday.

Break the Ice: Binge-Worthy 2 months, 2 weeks agoBack to say I am binging Criminal Minds as background television while I complete my assignments. In college this is what I did too. It is the only show that can be on in the background that isn’t distracting.

I really relate to that impulse too. My favorite background-show is The Office since (for me) it’s very calming and relaxing (in spite of its theme song). But Criminal Minds works just as fine. Despite the scary beginnings, the rest of the episodes are quite predictable and serene.

My Favorite Podcast 2 months, 2 weeks agoI prefer listening to podcasts on Youtube since I enjoy the visual imagery matching the show’s story-telling. Do Apple podcasts have any visuals or are they exclusively auditory? That’s kind of a dealbreaker for me since I’m a strong visual learner.

I used to listen to this podcast religiously, but fell behind during the shutdown (when I wasn’t commuting anymore) and haven’t listened in a few years. But the “murderino” groups on facebook are my favorite, and are almost the only thing I still use facebook for anymore!

@acorey I was a long time MFM listener. I switched gears to more movie focused podcasts in the last couple of years. My memory is that one of the early listeners who is the Simpsons fan coin the term Murderino after Homer’s neighbor Ned Flanders’ way of speaking.

@inabookbind I don’t listen like I used to but in 2017 to 2021 I listened to every episode. You are right…it was like listening to friends. Karen said something I still repeat to myself and share whenever I can: “Anxiety is liar.”

@Louis Congrats on the new little one! I have been a longtime fan of the Alien franchise although later films were not as finely presented as the first two. I am eager to stream Romulus as well.

I’ve been wanting to read this book! My friend was telling me about it and how she was having trouble driving around town while listening to it, as she was so into the book she forgot to take the necessary turns to get where she was going. 😛
It was so good! I also just read “The Spellshop” by Sarah Beth Durst. It was a great cozy fantasy. I got my copy of The Wedding People off of Pangobooks for a pretty great price. It is one that I will keep since I enjoyed it so much.
