@arthurkolat Thank you so much for your kind words. I learned so much from that experience and will definitely be trying to implement the ideas I mentioned in my next library position. Also, I wanted to mention the space at the San Diego Public Library (downtown location)– it is kind of a hybridized third space, and while it doesn’t exactly have…[Read more]

@arthurkolat I so enjoyed the video. You brought all of the facets of the library as classroom to life. What wonderful feedback you received as well. And I must tell you I enjoyed the color of your crocs. 😀

@arthurkolat Great question. It can go anywhere you wanted to go actually: you can target a real library, a fictional library, such as the Twin Peaks, public library or anything and everything in between. You absolutely could frame it as a report to a group of public and academic libraries.

@michael Thank you for sharing – what an amazing library story! I’m so that they were able to rebuild, and make the space even better. I really like the auditorium, it’s so big – would be perfect for some movie or documentary screenings! Like @arthurkolat , I also think that the learning roof is so inventive and fun, and probably gets more folks…[Read more]

@arthurkolat Your INFO 282 class sounds very cool and seems to be a tech follow up to 200.
Thanks for your video about the Sound Lab! I am learning so much about how music instruction etc has changed!

Thanks for the recommendations and the links! Lehmann’s work looks very interesting. The design of a library definitely has a huge impact on how a community views the library. And some of these modern super-libraries find incredible ways of blending classic, traditional models — with stacks and reading rooms and a general feeling…[Read more]

@arthurkolat So enjoyed this while I had my tea this morning. I appreciate where you took the idea of sharing food as a means to connect. The salad example is amazing.
The bowls are from IKEA … an old set we had on hand for years. Soup night IMHO requires a fresh different bow for each soup!

Take a look at this recent post. It worked with VERY rudimentary HTML. I do not know if that is useful.

Hi @arthurkolat
Thank you for creating an informative video. I really appreciate the breakdown of both digital tools, Perusall and Scalar. I admit, I have not had the opportunity to work with Perusall, but I have heard about Scalar. Either way, the information you provided was very helpful, and it reminded me how awesome these types of platforms can be.

@arthurkolat Thank you for sharing Perusall! I have never heard of this website, but I love the idea of everyone getting to annotate together and share stories, pictures, and ideas throughout. What a fun concept! It’s like a very interactive online book club, and I can’t wait to use this and share with others. Also, I love that you made a video.…[Read more]

@arthurkolat Thanks for sharing your super cool community profile and congrats on the publication. That is a big deal. Welcome to #hyperlib!
Just getting to this recording. What a great chat! Casey had a lot of great insights to offer. I have seen first hand how signing up k-12 students for cards increases patronage. I appreciate that he shared his honest opinion of social media marketing, he made a fair point when he mentioned that followers have already made the effort to seek out a library’s page.
