Nicole!
It nice that you found something that relates to what you want to do. I for one has never heard about toy libraries. One thing my library does is renting out board games. Your post was quite informative in a topic that some people might not know, or use. -

Nice post I feel people rely on Google and other search engines as they are well known and free and they will get a answers then a now. I think Adetayo argument has good point as AI can be used to point users to the right information with in the library and online. I for one use the SJSU library for getting articles or websites as…[Read more] -

Assignment X: Disappearing Library Fines?!
The use of library fines in public libraries has been in place for quite some time in the US. Fines for lost or overdue books were a way […]

I live in an area where a neighboring county system has fines, and we don’t. Our patrons appreciate being able to use the library without the added worry of overdue or late fines. We only charge if an item is lost or damaged, and then sometimes that is waived if the book is circulated a lot or patron has no record of multiple books damaged.

Hi Kimberly, very compelling use of punctuation 🙂 I always thought fines were a way of hurting the lower classes the most. It doesn’t encourage trust, it implies patrons will misuse access to information and cannot be trusted. Thank you for your research and reflections!

What a nice garden! What are the plants in the middle pic? In my house my mom is know to kill most of the plants she takes care of but surprisingly she has a orchid alive a blooming. Much like you libraries helped me during a hard period life and I wish to help others by providing a space for others in the library.

Hi Kim,
The first part of your post got me a little teary-eyed because I have always been a shy individual who had a hard finding friends and I always kept my head in the books, but I always managed to find myself in a library because that is where I felt safe. It gave me a quiet place to study or ponder over my thoughts. And what a lovely picture of your baked goods. I am just learning how to cook simple dishes, but baking for me is a bit intimidating.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
Have an awesome semester!

@plantkim18 I am very happy that libraries were there for you when you were struggling. I’m glad you found support in the library environment.
It’s also very nice to see a sushi conveyor one of my favorite things when we are abroad. Last time I was in London, we actually went to a place that did cheese conveyor belt and it was amazing.
Welcome to #hyperlib!
