Hi All, These days, I’m consistently binging young adult and new adult romantasy novels. I’ve always had an affinity for these genres and have enjoyed watching their evolution over the years. Being a part of the fan culture around creative works amplifies the whole experience for me. I enjoy seeing the art and conversation the stories inspire. And AI has recently led to much more art… and a whole new world of discussion about that art!
My sister has recently convinced me to start reading romantasy. I am now upset it took me until my 30s to finally give the genre a chance! If you feel up to it I would love some recommendations. Maybe just your top 3?
I love this — well done to your sister! A Court of Thorns and Roses (Sarah J. Maas) is a main series considered the “gateway” into Romantasy addiction. It’s not that the first book will blow your mind (though you’ll likely enjoy it) — it’s that the second book will (it’s chef’s kiss excellence). The series Fourth Wing (Rebecca Yarros) has been wildly popular and is fun — it’s something easy to pick up and get into. Finally, I recommend checking out Jennifer L. Armentrout’s From Blood and Ash series. It’s not for everyone, and the first book takes a bit of time to reel you in, but the themes it explores and the layers that build throughout the series are a rare find and wonderful to explore once you’re fully engrossed.
