Job Description

With over 17 years of experience at Toronto Public Library, I’ve built a career centered on community learning and public service. In my current role as a Library Assistant, I plan and lead a variety of programs, from Family Storytime and after‑school clubs to senior book discussions, Summer Wonder workshops, and TD Summer Reading Club activities. I also teach user education and digital literacy classes for adults and seniors, helping patrons build confidence with computers and everyday technology. Alongside programming, I support daily public service, assist with reference and technology questions, and create welcoming spaces where patrons of all ages can learn, connect, and thrive.

Learning Experiences and Goals

Most Memorable Learning Experience

My most memorable learning experiences has come from working 17 years at Toronto Public Library. Helping people every day (kids discovering books, seniors learning technology, newcomers finding resources) taught me how powerful community learning can be. Those moments shaped how I see public libraries and inspired me to pursue my MLIS.

Online Learning

What I appreciate most about online learning is the flexibility. Balancing full‑time work at the library while parenting a young child means my schedule is constantly shifting, so being able to learn on my own time makes a huge difference. The only downside is when any tech issues get in the way, but overall the format fits my life really well.

Learning Goals

Since I already run programs and teach digital literacy classes at Toronto Public Library, I’m hoping to explore new ways to make library services more interactive and user‑centered (both online and in person). I’m especially interested in how hyperlinked library principles can help me design programs that are more responsive and meaningful for the communities I serve.
