My Introduction

Hello! I have honestly been trying to register for this course for several semesters—success! I’m excited and trepidatious about the semester because I will be stretching myself right out of my comfort zone. I will be confronting my fear of outside judgement as I think aloud, so to speak. I also have to confront my tendency to obsess over tiny details as I design this site and write the blog posts—that is if I ever want to accomplish anything in this class and in the other one I’m taking. I’m hoping that I will be able to take the knowledge and skills I will develop here with me into public librarianship in my professional life.

Below is an image that looks a lot like some of my favorite memories as I was growing up. Lake Michigan is truly something special.

Sue, I can identify with your feelings as we push ourselves to try new things. Hopefully we can stay open and gentle with ourselves as we move forward. Thanks for your post.

Thanks, Lisa, for reminding me that pushing myself like that requires me to be kinder to myself at the same time. I am usually my harshest critic. See you in the blogosphere!

Hi Sue! I live a stone’s throw from the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore (Lake Michigan). It sounds like you live somewhere else now?

Hi Heather! I’m pretty landlocked, but I spent a lot of summers actually in Stevensville, just 20 miles across the Indiana/Michigan border. I climbed up and down big sand dunes everyday. But it was nothing like climbing the Sleeping Bear Dunes when we visited several years ago. What an amazing and exhausting experience that is! Do you visit the park very often?
