Symposium – Scrappy Poetry
As I was reading through the materials this semester, I came across individual passages that struck me for one reason or other. I picked some of them to start off each of my reflection posts because they seemed to encapsulate what I was thinking about as I wrote them. So, for my symposium artifact I decided to remix them into something new that, for me, encapsulates my takeaways in this course. Thanks everyone for a great semester and some inspiring ideas! @suedonnim

I love the creativity of this project. It reminds me of black out poetry, and I just learned that you can create your own online: https://www.blackoutpoetry.co/

Thanks Bernadette! That’s was my inspiration when I was doing this project. But I also wanted to put my own spin on it and to be able to read (mostly) the original text as well. I didn’t know about the site. Thanks for sharing!

Sue, you tied it all together well! Thank you for your contributions this semester.

Thanks, Lisa! It was so interesting to read all the different ways of thinking about librarianship through the perspective of our peers.

Hi Sue,
This was an excellent symposium that has left me wondering how you pulled it all off, and it has given me nostalgia for my poetry class in my undergraduate years at San Diego State University. I do wonder, though, about the factors surrounding what inspired you to make such a wonderful piece of art?
Thanks and have a great Holiday season,
Miguel

Thanks Miguel! It’s all canva. As far as inspiration, it was not only everything I explored in this class but the excellent work by everyone else.

Sue, I wish I’d found your blog sooner.
But I’m thrilled I happened upon your final post. I LOVE it. Blackout poetry is so much fun and you’ve done an excellent job using it to reflect on your semester. Very clever and creative to use bits from each author and post as you did.
Warmly,
Bevin

Thanks, Bevin! We sure had a lot of great work to keep us engaged this semester. I think it would be hard to get through everyone’s contributions. Take care.

We sure did, Sue. And we’ve all earned a nice little break 😉
