@michael It has been such a positive experience developing the space and watching people use it. I agree that other colleges and universities should consider implementing something similar. It would be super simple to scale up or down depending on the resources available.

Just looking at the Milwaukee Public Library Account on TikTok vs Facebook, it appears their Facebook primarily posts photos and information about events while their TikTok primarily posts humorous videos. Part of that focus might just be what the algorithms for their respective platforms pushes. It would be interesting to do a more widespread comparison.

When I first started working at the college library, they were very much just focused on addressing academic/information needs. It’s been cool to see our mission expand to address personal needs too. It’s tough to encourage that when working with such a limited budget, but applying for that grant was a wonderful way to help fund additional services.

I love the idea of a toy-lending library. In addition to the study rooms, we have activity kits with some toys and gadgets for older children. Right now they are limited to 2 hour checkouts and are intended to be used on campus, but I love the idea of lengthening the loan time for those items.

Thanks for your comment! We’ve had a lot of conversations about protecting patron privacy when engaging with social media and when gathering stats. It’s always a bit of a balancing act to determine what sort of information is helpful to collect/share and what sort of information is best left completely anonymized and uncollected.

Hello! In light of the recent release of the Avatar Aang movie, I have been rereading the graphic novels. I have also been binging The Legend of Korra series which I actually never got around to despite loving the original series. I am on season 4 so very close to finishing!
