James Patterson
So another library social media trend I’ve noticed is light-hearted humor about author James Patterson. He is such a prolific writer and this leads to some hilarious short form videos. I believe the first video I encountered was a form of “Go Fish” with James Patterson’s author picture on the back of his books. It was so funny to me that he had published so many and with enough different photographs that they could make this game.

As I was going through my saved videos, I found a lot more funny videos that related to James Patterson as an author or his multitude of books. Here was one funny video that was an April Fool’s joke:

Hello Heather,
The dominoes made entirely of James Patterson books is one of my favorites! I also noticed the influx of library staff making social media posts in regards to James Patterson. There was one in particular where a patron was unsure of what they wanted to read so library staff recommended to first start with James Patterson and then work out their reading taste profile from there. While prolific, James Patterson’s extensive authorship and collaborations are nice springboards for patrons to sample various genres of literature through one author. If someone is hesitant to get into reading, they can be sure to find a James Patterson book written in collaboration with a familiar individuals, such as Dolly Parton, Bill Cliton, Chris Grabenstein and many others.
Thanks for the funny posts!
Best,
Aldore
Hi Aldore! Thank you for reading and replying to my post. Yes, the dominoes one is so fun!
That is a really good thought of how James Patterson can be a great start for helping patrons get back into reading or to create a reading taste profile. While these videos are fun, it is true that Patterson keeps being read for a reason! I like this perspective, thank you for sharing.
Best, Heather K
