The Teen Space Transformation project seeks to refresh and revitalize an under-utilized teen space in a small town library. Through direct collaboration with tweens and teens, the goal is to create a welcoming “Third Place” for our community’s young adults that meets their unique developmental, educational, and technological needs.

Hi Liz,
Great idea to collaborate with local middle and high schools! It would generate interest in the project and involving them in planning for the space would help them understand their value as patrons.

Hi Liz,
Making sure teens feel welcomed and are utilizing a teen space in the public library can take some effort. Luckily, this kind of model encourages those things! I remember reading a study for another class about how for teens the space itself can be more important than the collection offered, so you highlighting their need for a third space that really speaks to them is on point. A Teen Advisory Board could also be helpful in a scenario like this. Great presentation!
