Here is my Inspiration Report:
Building AI Literacy at Southwestern Community College
This report outlines how AI was utilized as a tool in the production of an AI Information Literacy program at SWCC. It was fun to develop and work through the process. Some of the end products, which are still drafts reflect the creative ease in which AI can help the Library make engaging material that will encourage students and faculty to attend the sessions.
Hey Becca,
Great deck! My favorite part was showing the actual prompts and AI responses side by side. Most reports just say “I used AI to help” and leave it at that, but seeing the real exchange with NotebookLM about whether one librarian could realistically run this made the whole thing feel more honest. I also liked that you didn’t just accept the first outline. Feeding it SWCC’s actual numbers and getting it to adjust to asynchronous delivery for Tiers 1 and 2 shows the iteration in action, not just the polished result. It’s rare to see a program like this actually built, since most schools leave students and adults to self-teach AI use with basically no structured guidance at all.
@nhaynes287 Thank you for your feedback. This assignment really challenged me on what I was going to to do and how to present it. I wanted to get the most out of the assignment which is why I was intentional about my use of AI to help me create products that I would potentially use in building this type of programming. In fact, I talked with my supervisor today and he gave me the green light to go ahead and start working on building it for real and that I could bring it to the Curriculum Committee in the Spring 2027 semester to see if it can be approve to run Fall 2027. That gave me a lot of reinforcement that this was truly the way to go with the report.
