Hello everyone!
It is a pleasure to e-meet you all. My name is Rahab Lawshea, but you can call me Rae. I was born and raised in Texas and currently live in San Antonio, TX. I am in my third semester of the MLIS program here at SJSU and have already learned so much. I work in a public library here in San Antonio as a library aide, but before that, I worked in a normal “9-5” corporate job. During that time, I realized I needed to make a change to something I was more passionate about. After volunteering at the library, I knew that this was the switch I needed to make, and I haven’t looked back since.
As a library aide, I get to see various programs from start to finish and help librarians implement them. I enjoy serving my community and look forward to the insights and skills this class will give me in providing the information my community needs. I am currently leaning more toward children’s librarianship, but I am open to learning more about the opportunities this degree will offer. In my free time, I love to travel, hike, do yoga, garden, decorate my house, and read a good book.

I grew up in the Dallas area of Texas, and I love San Antonio! I have some family there and enjoy visiting from time to time. I remember one bakery with colossal cinnamon rolls very fondly. San Antonio and Austin are the best of Texas! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying your library job and have found fulfilling work. Your blog name is super clever!

Are you referring to Lulu’s Bakery? Unfortunately, they have closed down due to COVID :(. However, the taste of their cinnamon rolls will live on through my memories.
I lived in Arlington for a bit and became familiar with the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. I fell in love with the vegan restaurants there. I am now pescatarian, but those spots will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for the compliment! I hope to learn more about you and your librarianship journey as we move through the semester :).

Yes, DFW has such an awesome food scene! That’s pretty cool that you were able to find so many good vegan spots around there. From what I’ve heard, good vegan restaurants seem to be hard to come by.
