Hi, I’m Chandler
Hello, @michael and my HyberLib classmates!
My name is Chandler and I am about 2 years into my MLIS. I am hoping to become a librarian at one of my many local public libraries in the next couple of years, although I am also taking courses in academic librarianship as well to explore the possibility. This seminar in particular interested me because we live in a time of such fast-paced technological advances, and technology only makes libraries stronger by connecting users to new and evolving services. I love the idea of participatory services in which users get to help identify what they need and want, re-centering the library’s purpose as a place, above all, for humans who are curious, inquisitive, and creative. I myself am not always the most Web 2.0 literate, but I do want to be Library 2.0 literate, and so I am excited to learn something new and interact with my classmates in this virtual space.
I live with my husband and our two perfect cats in the Bay-Peninsula. I love to travel (I’ve taken MLIS classes from both France and Japan so far), read, and play the occasional cozy game. Here is me and my husband in the bamboo forest in Kyoto last Fall, and my boys, Sableye and Simon (Sableye is the one-eyed pirate).

How cool that you have worked on your classes from France and Japan! Our program is so cool in many ways, and one of the best is the flexibilty.

Hi Chandler! I so agree that we live in a time of such fast-paced technological advances and I feel lately it’s been hard to keep up with everything coming out all the time. This was one of the reasons I took so this course so it’s nice to see I’m not alone in this feeling! I’ve always wanted to travel and just recently got a passport so hopefully I can start soon. How was your trip to Japan? My partner wants to visit but we get overwhelmed with the endless possibilities of fun to have!

Hi Sam @spalmerdiaz! I completely understand, I find it almost impossible to actually pick one of the endless places I want to travel to. How do you even prioritize? I would whole-heartedly recommend Japan. The food is amazing, it’s clean, every person we met was so kind and helpful and excited to hear your story. Not to mention the beauty of the temples and countryside. I hope you get to go!
