Dear INFO 287 Comrades,
My name is Sara, and I am taking this course because it comes highly recommended by other SJSU MLIS students. They said it was one of the courses they learned the most from AND enjoyed most. Can’t argue with that! I also remember Dr. Stephens’ lovely videos from some of the core classes and always liked his vibe.
I am also taking INFO 285 with Dr. Jefferson and INFO 281 with Dr. Buenting. I work full-time as an international school librarian at a school in Jakarta that specializes in supporting students with any and all kinds of special needs. I am American, but I have lived abroad since 2012 and have worked as an international school librarian for the past four years. I love being an international school librarian and don’t foresee stopping anytime soon! My school’s Book Week(s) will occur over the next two weeks, and I apologize in advance if my submissions are near the deadline or slightly over because I will probably be a very busy bee.
My husband’s name is Jake, and he is a film teacher at another international school in Jakarta. We have four kitties, one of whom, Lillian, has lived on three different continents (Europe, America, and Asia). The others are Snicklefritz, Gustavo, and Faye, who can only scoot around on her front legs.

Hi Sara,
Nice to meet you! Honestly, I never thought about being an international librarian. What a cool area of librarianship! My selection of this class was also based on “meeting” Dr. Stephens in one of the core classes.
Hi Bella! Living outside the USA has its challenges, but I’m grateful for this weird life I’ve lucked into. Highly recommend giving it a try if you are up for a little adventure. Please let me know if you would like some resources to explore if you want to look into that branch of librarianship!
Thank you for commenting, and nice to meet you!
@saralynnfreeman thank you for your thoughtful and kind words about my videos and my vibe. I am glad to learn about your background and where you currently are. I totally understand about being super busy when it’s book week. 😀 It’s very cool that your husband is a film teacher as well. And yay for four kitties. I love their names! Welcome to the hyperlinked library.
Thank you kindly, Michael! I am very excited about this course and taking it with you. My husband, Jake, says hello and also wants to offer Billy and Samm some scritches.
