Inspiration Report: AI and Program Outlining

For the inspiration report, I decided to play around with ChatGPT to see how it could be useful in a library setting. Specifically, I took a Ramadan program that I am currently thinking of redesigning and asked ChatGPT to brainstorm an outline.

@inasamuel I really enjoyed reading your process of how you used ChatGPT in the creation/revision of a Ramadan program through the Salt Lake City Public Library. Working with an AI tool on something like this, you would definitely want some background experience in putting on this type of event as well as a good working knowledge of what Ramadan incorporates, which it sounds like you do so that you could tell what the AI tool missed or got wrong in its production of ideas, etc. The act of cultural sensitivity is a good skill to have and I am glad that you reviewed AI output to think about those that are fasting during this time. I also liked that you asked more questions to help clear up any generic terminology that was used in the AI planning like with the children’s activity ideas. Overall, AI can help in a lot of ways, and in others it can be somewhat frustrating. It definitely isn’t going away and we need to learn how to use it ethically and responsibly, all the while keeping in the human element that knows how to respond with empathy and support.
