Intro Post: Hyperlinked Library

Hi Everyone!

My name is Raemetrice (pronounced Ray-me-tris), but I go by Rae. I started the MLIS program during the beginning of COVID, so I’m more than halfway complete and excited about reaching the finish line. Aside from school occupying my time, I work full-time for the County of Los Angeles, in the public service field. As of this month, I’ve been working there going on 20 years. I’ve enjoyed the work I do and learned a lot over the many years being there, but was ready for a change. Due to my love of books and wanting to continue helping people, I was interested in working in the library field, which led me to start my MLIS journey. I decided to take this course because the subject matter appealed to me and I’m always eager to learn new trends emerging in the library field, especially in terms of technological innovations and advancements. So, I’m excited to gain new information and look forward to what this course offers.

On a personal note, I enjoy doing a hodge podge of things, depending on my mood. I love being with friends and family, but also value solitude, so I try to balance the two as best as I can. I enjoy reading, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, watching movies and/or binging a series. I also have a fur baby, a cat named Koko. I know alot of pet parents feel the same, but my Koko is truly the best cat on planet earth. It’s definitely her world and she’s graciously allowed me to be apart of it, for which I am humbly grateful.

Hi Rae! Like you, I was intrigued by what the class has to offer about emerging trends in technologies not only for libraries, but for people in general. I know that my library has taken on learning all we can about AI because we know that the college instructors will come to us for guidance, and literacy sessions. On a separate note, you cat is absolutely gorgeous! I have two cats, an orange cat named Andre and his brother who is dark grey named Roman. They have kept me entertained these last few years.
