Innovation Roadmap: Bring a Friend to the Library Day
The idea for my Innovation Roadmap, “Bring a Friend to the Library Day”, is an extension and continuance of my Assignment X post which focuses on the People-Centric element of the Hyperlinked Model.

Hi Raemetrice – This is a great idea. It is very simple but could be very effective. It reminds me of a bring your kid to work day. We have those at my institution, and those are always fun. It’s interesting that you could not find any other libraries doing this kind of program. You could be a trail blazer with this!
@rachelll, thank you so much for your comment! Yes, we have also have those at my organization too, and the kids seem to really enjoy it-and that is a great comparison because I do know the program has different stations for the kids to explore and learn about during the event, which is similar to my idea. And I was surprised too, I used a number of search word/terms/phrases to find if something like this existed and was super surprised when I couldn’t find anything. Thank you again for your reply and the super kind sentiment!
This is an awesome idea! I think it really takes into consideration of scaling when it comes to the hyperlinked library model. Not every library will be able to afford to start a makerspace, or update all the computers at once. This program really focuses on the core of the hyperlinked library: the users. And it addresses the age-old library question of how to reach the folks who don’t use your library! Your work here is definitely going to inspire me as I continue to work on my own Innovation Roadmap.

I appreciate the points you made regarding the user focus element of the program, that was my intention, to highlight the person/people centered aspect of the hyperlinked library. This is such a cool idea! I could see myself implementing this in my library to show new and veteran patrons alike the different library offerings we have. I agree with Rachel that this is a trailblazer idea! It would be fun to do it in September, during Library Card Sign-up Month.
