Hello! Thanks for stopping by…

Hello and welcome, one and all. My name is Matilda and I am in my final semester of the MLIS program here at San Jose State. I live in a small rural town in Northern California and work as a software project manager for a renewable energy company. I began my master’s degree studies in the fall of ’22. I did not choose a concentration but my courses have mostly focused on information architecture, UX, and archives and records.

In my personal life I am an avid reader of books of all kinds and tinker around with writing essays and fiction from time to time. I have also recently applied for an appointment on the Library Advisory Board for my county library system. In my household I live with two teenagers, three bossy kittycats, and one very opinionated dog.

I have had my eye on this course for the entire time I have been in the program and I am very excited to have the opportunity to take it. I am very interested in the concept of participatory service and I look forward to taking a deep dive into the materials and the assignments.

    1. Hi Denise!

It’s great to see you again! I was going to congratulate you on your big promotion when I read your intro post but I couldn’t find where to comment for some reason.

I look forward to working with you again. 😀

  1. Hi, Matilda! It’s very nice to meet you (virtually) — I’m so curious where in NorCal you’re from (if you’re comfortable sharing, of course)! I was born and raised in Folsom but all my dad’s side of the family live around Grass Valley and northward from there, so I’m particularly fond of all those small towns in and around the Tahoe National Forest and Scotts Flat.

    All the best!

  2. Hi Matilda,

We chose the same theme! It’s pretty classic, I have to say. What are you reading right now? I’m trying to get through “Circe,” by Madeleine Miller but moved on to “Becoming Story,” by Greg Sarris.

    1. “Trying to get through”does not sound like a ringing endorsement lol. I have talked to others who have struggled with that one but it seems so popular. I am very slowly reading Fellowship Point by Alice Elliott Dark but I sometimes go days without picking it up. I have so much school reading right now that I am going through a rare phase of very little pleasure reading. It is good though. In other circumstances I probably would have read it quite quickly.

      1. Haha, IKR?? That’s exactly why I picked it up, but goes to show about believing “all the hype”! I hear you about time for pleasure reading. I’m trying to take everything in bits and pieces to save my sanity.
