Assignment X: Growth Through Service
The concept of participatory service in the library has grown exponentially over the past couple decades. This concept stands out to me because of the plethora of ways it helps expand the reach of the library. When libraries actively design services around community interests and needs, people are encouraged to engage with library resources beyond just borrowing books. Hello! My name is Lauren and I live in central California and currently work as a teacher librarian at a middle school. My interest is in school libraries and I would like to continue my role as a teacher librarian for a long time. I was previously and ELA teacher for 8th grade for 6 years before making the switch to the library. I chose this course because I have heard great things about it and I am interested in how to expand access to library tools and resources beyond the physical library.
