Introduction!!

Howdy!!

My name is Tessa, and I am originally from Upstate NY. After the pandemic, I moved to the Seattle area and got the chance to live there for 4 years. Now I am on a new adventure and just recently moved to the Los Angeles area. I am very excited for my third year here at SJSU and hope to graduate in the Spring! It is wild how fast the time went, and a bit bittersweet as I approach the finish line.

Sherburne Public Library

My love for library science started when I was in high school. My theater director was also the library director of our small town library. She had an opening for a library page position, and I got to work there for 3 years. During my time at the library, I learned just how much I loved the work. It was at that point the pandemic hit, and while my life took some different turns, I am glad to be back studying something I love. I currently work as a nanny. While I am passionate about early childhood education, my hope is to return to the library field very soon.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy many hobbies. Hiking is my favorite way of getting to know the new places I live. I love writing and mostly focus on creative fantasy works. I spent some time learning Muay Thai and loved it as well! I am not very good at it yet, but I am excited to join a new gym soon!! My friends and I are also obsessed with board games and our two cats (Mitochondria and Morpheus or Mighty and Mora for short).

I am looking forward to this semester and getting to work with you all!!

  1. Hi Tessa,

You are right, my Moe and your Mighty could be cousins. I am about one hour and twenty minutes from Los Angeles! That house is beautiful. Is that where you live now?

  2. Tessa – I heart Mighty & Mora! So interesting to read about how you found your way into libraries through the theater director. So glad you are studying in our program. Welcome to the hyperlinked library.

  3. Mighty and Mora are ADORABLE! Tessa, congrats on your impending graduation. I hope to be in your shoes next semester 🙂 I think it is so great that you are getting into Muay Thai, even if you’re not so good yet! I myself am learning how to ride a OneWheel (electronic skate board with motor) as a way to heal my inner child who wasn’t allowed to skateboard, lol! I’m not very good either, but it feels my cup! I hope to learn self-defence when I’m able to get back to the states too.

    • I love that! It is always fun finding new games. For board games, we usually play games like Risk, Clue, and Monopoly. A big card game we play all the time is Rummy 🙂 What games do you usually play?
