Hi everyone!
My name is Samantha Diaz but I prefer to go by Sam. I live in Southern California and received my Bachelor’s from Cal State Fullerton. I am in my third Semester of the MLIS program and I hope to work in a high school library. I currently have very limited experience in a library setting only having worked in one during my first year of undergrad but I do hope to gain more soon! I work at a University as a Coordinator for a college access program serving students from 7th grade to their first year of post-secondary education to help them explore what life after high school could look like for them.
I chose to take this course because I took INFO 200 with Professor Stephens and really enjoyed his course style! I also was unsure what a hyperlinked library really was and wanted to learn more about it. I’m excited to gain more insight and knowledge on an area I’m unfamiliar with.
A little bit about me: I enjoy binge watching TV shows and movies, going on drives and taking pictures, and eating good food! I just recently got my passport so I hope to travel abroad this next year and explore the diverse world that’s out there. I would love to visit Ireland to see the amazing greenery over there.

Just wanted to say your current job sounds really interesting and rewarding. I think so many high school graduates can’t anticipate the complete change of pace that awaits them after their senior year, be it at a university, community college, or in the workforce; a program like yours sounds like it would benefit many young learners!
I had the chance to visit Ireland last summer, and it did not disappoint! One thing to note, if you plan on visiting the famous Trinity College Library in Dublin, all but the first few shelves of books have been removed from the Long Room, so it is not quite as picturesque, but still worth visiting, in my opinion! And if you plan on driving outside of the cities…be prepared for some very small roads, and keep an eye out for sheep!

Hi Colin! My job is definitely very rewarding. I love hearing from my students after they finish the program and getting to see all they accomplish it truly makes some of the stressful parts worthwhile. Thank you for the tips about Ireland, I hope to make it over there some day!
@samdiaz your current position sounds very interesting and I think you’ll be able to use that experience to advantage when you are looking for a job as an information professional. Thanks for your kind words about my lectures and I too enjoy binge watching good shows.
