Assignment – Innovation Strategy & Roadmap

Here is my plan and roadmap for a wellness program, Library Fit, for my community library. I am familiar with some of the resources of the Network of the National Library of Medicine and believe that public libraries play an important role in teaching health literacy and wellness and can make good partners with other health promotion entities within the community.

What a great writeup Matthew! I love your idea of an app, and ways to make the program more of a challenge to help motivate people with a competitive spirit. You could even have some fun library-branded prizes!

Our health and wellness programs are very popular, especially one we call “Ageless Grace” – which features neuroplasticity exercises. People are always putting “never cancel this program!” notes in our suggestion box about it. LOL

I thought I would mention it in case your community might like it too. Best, Heather

Matthew, this sounds like a great idea. Our library has been hosting different fitness classes and a walking club. But your “Library Fit” program pulls it all together into an experience. The variety of activities you included should keep it interesting for people with varying interests. I especially like the idea of the leaderboard with prizes along with the non-competitive prizes to be inclusive of all participants. Nice work! @suedonnim

@suedonnim Thanks Sue for the kind encouragement. I am so impressed with people’s presentation skills in this class and frankly a little intimidated and self-conscious about my products so far. I spent a ton of time trying to get my blog to look halfway decent… Your reports look great. I had never done a presentation in Canva until this class. That’s another theme of this class though…. embrace the lifelong learning. 🙂

I know exactly what you’re talking about in terms of feeling intimidated and self-conscious about presenting my work to all. Your work has been great! Here’s to life-long learning 😁

    Hi @matthewsmith
I like your approach of getting people connected for health-driven activities. It addresses needs for social, accessible, healthful activities that provide a fun way to socialize, while learning how to take care of yourself for free. I also aprreciate your book recommendation and added it on my Libby. My only feedback is that I’d love to more a little more about the photographs you’re including. I can tell your local library is happy to have you! With gratitude, Chelsea Jones.

@gardenlib Thanks for the feedback. I probably should have said more about the photographs. I included photos of people exercising that were available online with creative commons licenses that allowed them to be used and shared freely. I tried to find ones that might get people’s attention and that showed activities that one could imagine taking place in the library. I’m glad they got your attention!
