  1. Hi Libby,
    This is an amazing idea! I love that it gives youth an avenue to make their voices heard by sharing their own stories and ideas. I think it’s great that there is an emphasis on including marginalized voices to make it an inclusive program for all. Your ideas for marketing and promotion are excellent. I think reaching out to schools has the potential to reach a lot of prospective participants. As a teacher myself, this is absolutely something I would encourage my students to take part in!

    • Thank you for your positive reinforcement @khirst927! I interact with teenagers from the local high schools at my library, and it takes me back to when I was their age, searching for creative outlets. I spoke to one of the SSF English teachers when we were hosting an event at our city council chambers (which is located in the same building of our brand-new library) and he told me he had been looking for the perfect place to showcase poetry slams and such for his student. It was at this moment that things bubbled up. Teachers rock!
