Intoduction

Hello! I’m Joyce!

I currently work at a library in Toronto, Canada. I have a background in media and technology as well as many years of experience in public library systems. I just joined the SJSU MLIS program January 2025 after taking many of the mandatory core classes and I’m looking forward to taking courses that interest me including this one!

During my free time, I love to crochet, specifically plush dolls and animals (although admittedly I haven’t picked it up in a while). In general I also enjoy hobbies where I can be creative and craft items. Recently at work I’ve gotten a hold of a cricut machine so I’ve been diving head first into learning how to make custom stickers!

Excited to start the summer semester! In the meantime, here are some photos of a dinosaur I crocheted!

    Hi Joyce!

Nice to meet a fellow Torontonian. Your plushie creations are adorable! Ah the Cricut explorations at TPL (?) continue. Stickers? I must learn more about this. We are working on Cricut cards at my branch.

Hi Daisy! Nice to see someone else from TPL is also in this program. The cricut has been my newest obsession! The print then cut option/setting will allow you to make stickers as long as you have vinyl sticker paper to print on. I’d give it a try, it’s very fun!

Vinyl sticker paper is on order! Thanks for the idea inspiration. Would love to see what you’ve been making for further inspiration and sharing. Thanks!

Hi Joyce, nice to meet you – your crochet dinosaur is so cute!! I’ve just started learning to crochet recently, and it’s honestly amazing to see some of the intricate work people have shared online. From what I’ve seen, there are so many creative people out there sharing patterns, and a seemingly endless amount of possibilities for what can be crocheted.

All the best to you this semester and in your future classes in this program!

Hi Mollie! Thank you! Learning to crochet has been such a fun activity, I feel like I learn a new technique every time I find a different pattern. I hope you enjoy your summer and classes in the future as well!
