I just want to take a moment from the last minute bustle to acknowledge the graduation season that is currently upon us. So, to all who are in their last semester, CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING! YOU ROCK!
This may be the end of your formal educational journey, but I wish you the joys of a career you love and a lifetime of curiosity to indulge in the amazing offerings our world contains. (Despite the current climate, our world is amazingly full of interesting things good, bad, and everything in between. )
This morning I received multiple messages saying that our Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden was fired. I was so angry by it. I signed a petition and fired off a letter to my rep. As soon as I finished with that, I received multiple messages and photos from REPAIR Lab staff and alums about how they enjoyed celebrating the graduation of one of our own in a place that made them happy and safe on campus. Yes, REPAIR Lab operates in service of the Library’s goals, but we humanized the work and made it a program and space they are proud to be members of. So, that’s my longwinded way of saying “Celebrate good times! It’s the patronus charm that will aid you through the rough.”
