Hello everyone! My name is Miguel, and I am excited to participate in this course as part of my LIS studies. I live in San Diego, California, and I am currently working as a substitute librarian for elementary schools in the La Mesa County area. I enjoy answering all students’ questions concerning their learning experience so that they might succeed as students. I chose this course to continue what a previous professor said about staying up-to-date on what is occurring in the library space. I am excited to learn about all the innovative technologies and ways the library space is evolving to keep up with the ever-evolving needs of patrons. My dream is to work in a community college’s library and to aid those who, like me in the past, lacked knowledge and skills in information literacy. This factor is exceedingly vital today. I am also open to working in a university’s library to achieve the same goal: to aid those in need. As to what I enjoy in my free time, I am a massive fan of a variety of video games, including RPGs and FPSs. I am also an avid tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) enjoyer and actively play Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) with my friends on the weekends. I also hope to one day get into playing the miniature wargame Warhammer 40,000. Additionally, I love my dog Chula, who is pictured below, taking a nap as always. Hope everyone here has a wonderful semester!

    HI Miguel,
thanks for the intro! I, too live in San Diego, and am a TTRPGamer! Traveller, Call of Cthulhu, Dungeon Crawl Classics, and D&D. I have friend who is way into Warhammer 40k – modeling, painting, and playing. I hope you get a chance to try it. Thanks for sharing Chula! I, too, consider community college as a great destination as a librarian – if it weren’t for Palomar Community College I never would have made it this far. Have a great term!

@migueleruiz29 Chula is so sweet! Thank you for sharing your background and your aims for the profession. I think that’s very cool you would like to work in a community college. Community colleges and their libraries offer access and inclusion, via dynamic spaces where learners of all backgrounds can discover, create, and connect. 🙂
