Hello everyone, this is Amy — The Sewing Librarian. That’s my Instagram handle, but I have been off social media since the inauguration — it’s been very refreshing.
I am not technically a full librarian yet, but that’s why I’m in the SJSU MLIS program (this is my fourth semester, taking 2 classes at a time). But I have been working in school libraries for nearly fifteen years. I’m currently at a 6-12 independent school near San Mateo.
Like many of you, I am also taking the class not only because of the content, but because we have an enthusiastic, communicative, engaged, and tech-savvy professor, who can make all the difference regardless of the topic. But of course, I look forward to increasing my skills in the areas this class covers.
Work keeps me very busy, since besides managing the library, I also assist with the school drama productions and am the yearbook advisor. I’m currently writing a murder mystery party on behalf of the school based on the historical characters who lived in the 1917 home that is now one of our school buildings. And of course grad school on top of that. But I like to stay busy.
When I’m not working, I enjoy modern quilting and audiobooks, and I have recently gotten into the game “Wingspan.”
Here’s to a great spring semester!
Amy
