Hi everyone!
My name is Toby Chao. This coming Fall semester will be the start of my 3rd and final year in the MLIS program. I am super excited and a little nervous about approaching the finish line. In addition to classes I also work full-time at the LA Metro Library and Archive as an assistant archivist. I am a little over year at Metro now across my internship and job. Doing this degree along with experience from work has pushed me to learn so much. I thought this class looked very interesting and relevant to what is currently happening in my work as the library team looks to revamp our workflows and systems as the older staff start to retire. I am also just always interested in learning about new and emerging trends that could potentially help me serve the patrons better. My focus is on the archive, and I really just love deep diving into whatever topic is in front of me or is needed for my work. I do love visiting libraries, but I always have my head buried in historical material so this course will really help me stay balanced.
Outside of school and work I love to read, play video games, and spend time with my mom. I typically lean towards non-fiction books but do love a good sci-fi or fantasy novel now and then. In terms of video games, I am currently enjoying the new POE 2 0.5 league. I look forward to a fruitful summer session with everyone!
