Virtual Symposium- The Journey

For my virtual symposium I chose to do a graphic showcasing what I see as the journey of a librarian. I used space as a metaphor because I think we all grasp the sort of expanse of space, which to me can be representative of what there is to learn in the field. Infinite.

Basically, endless possibilities that we as information professionals get to explore.

I also wanted to pick something kid friendly in design. I don’t remember much talk of becoming a librarian when I was a kid, and I think something like this could be a poster in a library or a classroom to inspire the next generation.

This class has been a blast! Thank you everyone 🙂

  1. Oh wow, Brie! This is so adorable! This would go perfectly in our kids’ area, but I think even the teens would love a poster like this. I seem to see teens letting their guard down a bit during programming sometimes, and I think that they look for opportunities to relax from the intensity of high school and allow themselves to revisit the kids they were for so much of their lives.

    1. I can’t blame them, so much of the world is so intense now and childhood seems to end sooner and sooner. I’m glad it looks appealing. Sometimes it hard to tell when you’ve been staring at something for a long time, you know?

    1. Sure! Have at it.

One thing to keep in mind is the astronaut figures came from freepik. Otherwise the rest is mine but if this is in any official capacity you’d want to be careful about copyright. Despite the name they do in fact care about that.

      1. Thanks, Brie! It’s not anything official but if I can fit it onto a guide somewhere, I’ll be sure to note that the astronaut is from freepik.
